Bedrooms are very important in feng shui for obvious reasons. Your bed and your bedroom have to have good feng shui to support your personal energy. Your bed also has to maintain the feng shui energy of love and healing. That's a lot of feng shui responsibility for just one piece of furniture, isn't it? The feng shui bed guidelines are quite easy to follow and implement. The feng shui bed placement, however, is where you may encounter many challenges, all depending on your bedroom options.

Let's go step by step and find the best feng shui placement for your bed.

The first step in creating good feng shui energy in your bedroom is to do your best in meeting the feng shui bed guidelines.  In a nutshell, this means you have a bed with a solid headboard, good mattress and good frame height (and no storage underneath!) Now, let's find the best feng shui placement in your bedroom for that perfect bed.

Examine your bedroom and see if you can place the bed in the ideal feng shui spot for your bed - the so-called feng shui commanding position. The feng shui commanding position is the area further from the door/diagonally from the door, but not in line with it. In other words, you want to be able to see the door while you are in bed, but not be aligned with the door. There are several other feng shui points to follow in order to find the best placement for your bed, let's look at them one by one.

Bed Positioning

A strong supporting wall behind your bed is very important for a good feng shui bed placement. This creates strong, protective energy around your bed, gives it more power and ability to create (and hold) good energy. Do your best to position your bed in such a way that there is a solid wall behind it. For added strength, you can also choose to paint the wall in an accent color appropriate for your bedroom decor.

A Balanced Feng Shui Bed

Having grounding and balanced energy on both sides of the bed is very important for a good feng shui bed placement. This means you have to have two nightstands (not one); but it doesn't mean that they have to match! Be as creative as you feel like and let your imagination soar, but be sure that your bed has access from both sides and is treated well with two similar pieces of furniture on both sides of the bed.

Smooth Energy Around the Bed

Be sure there are no sharp angles pointing at you while you sleep. This  energy is called Sha Chi/attacking energy in feng shui and can come from various wall angles or sharp corners of the nearby furniture. Examine your bedroom space carefully to avoid any attacking energy directed at you while you sleep.

Avoid a bed in line with the bedroom door, as well as any other doors - be they balcony doors, bathroom door, walk-in closet or patio doors. If your bed is in line with any door, be sure to tastefully position an appropriate piece of furniture between the bed and the door.

A Low EMF Bedroom

It is always smart to position your bed away from the walls that have electric appliances on either side (computer, fridge, or TV). And, of course, it is best feng shui to limit (or completely eliminate!) the electrical appliances in your bedroom. I know you might get really upset while reading this. No TV in the bedroom? No iPad, no cell phones? Yes, this is exactly what I mean. It is possible (and very healthy) to limit your exposure to electrical appliances in the bedroom.
For example, if you switch your electrical alarm clock for a battery operated one, you will considerably lower the harmful EMFs in your bedroom. Your body will thank you, and your intimate relationship will deepen.

Follow Your Lucky Directions

If possible, place the bed according to your best, or lucky feng shui directions. Notice I did not start with the feng shui lucky directions first. Not even second. Do not place your bed in a corner or in a strange angle just so that you can sleep facing your best feng shui directions. And do not sleep in the living room just so that you can face your best directions! This might sound funny, but believe me I know some people do that.

Play and Experiment

When finding the best placement for your bed, you should always listen to the room, so to speak, and experiment with the best bed placement. If you can have both best feng shui bed placement and your best directions requirements met, then great! If you can't, please do not worry and think that your life is going to be a mess from now on.
Approach feng shui logically and practically, and, most importantly, in an empowered way.
If your bed cannot face your best feng shui directions, you can sure focus on facing your lucky directions when you work, watch TV, or eat dinner. Be creative and be smart, and know that there are solutions for almost everything in feng shui.
